Love never arrives when it's convenient.

She planned everything. Except him. Widow. Mother. Still allowed to want more. She thought it was hormones. It wasn’t. Cursed with truth. Stuck with feelings. Royal duty. Terrible dating pool. The event imploded. So did her heart. Her body was haunted. Love wasn’t. She held everyone together. Except herself. Honesty is a terrible flirting strategy. He needed a noble bride. He got her.

Hi, I’m Poppy.

I write romance for people who like their love stories layered – a little funny, a little dangerous, sometimes hormonal, occasionally interstellar.

If you enjoy:

  • complicated

  •  characters

  • emotional growth

  • banter

  • happy endings that feel earned

You’ll fit right in.

Inkitt Story Reviews

Seleta MerrickThis book is a gift

In a world of virgins and bad boys, we ladies "of a certain age" often feel invisible in literary circles, our 'main character energy' behind us. This story is a breath of fresh air! Our main character has a wickedly sharp sense of humor and I would love nothing more than a shared basket of fries, a glass of sweet tea and a portable fan her friendship.
Thank you so much for a story that filled an empty space. - Inkitt Review - 2/25/26

Ijlee2Still Allowed: A Perimenopausal Love Story

I really, really enjoyed this book. Read it in one afternoon. It is full of humor and real life. I always enjoy books that are real life and happy endings. - Inkitt Review, 2/23/26

Esmarie Van Der MeschtStill Allowed: A Perimenopausal Love Story

I love this book. I have laughed out loud a few times and I can't wait for the rest of the chapters. Really great book and completely relatable. - Inkitt Review, 2/13/26

LukeMooreStill Allowed: A Perimenopausal Love Story

Renae is in her late 40s. Mother of grown-up twins, Riley and Rider, "haunted by her hormones" and not picking midlife dates well. Enter Preston, local bar owner, with great forearms, and a gentleman, in the full sense of the word, who observes Renae "date" in his bar.
A soft, engaging humour permeates the text alongside entertaining, sharp dialogue. Some stylistic and pacing issues, but overall, a cute, sweet romance. Well worth the read. - Inkitt Review, 2/19/26

_Sarah_knightA Beautifully Honest Story About Love After Loss

This story feels refreshingly honest. Renae's journey through grief, friendship, and midlife love is tender, funny, and deeply relatable. The voice is authentic, and the theme of being "still allowed" to desire, grow, and be seen is powerful. I truly think this could resonate far beyond Inkitt with the right visibility strategy behind it. - Inkitt Review, 2/25/26

lookoutnopatienceSuch fun

This is such a fun and unexpected story a real imaginative take on Viking mythology. I keep reading faster and faster wondering how on earth it's going to end. - Inkitt Review, 2/7/26

IsabelWhat a fantastic story!

What a fantastic story indeed!! Loved the characters! They were so well built and written!! they were real!!! You could see them even predict their reaction sometimes!! It was wonderful!!!! We need more stories like this!!!! We need more stories about people, especially women's who are not in their twenties! People who are not supposedly discovering life first time!! Because, you know what, we are always discovering life for the first time!!
People are afraid/ashamed of talking about the so-called "women's problems"! Come on, girls, menopause is half our lives!!!
Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful work with us!!! Can't wait for Monique's story! Every woman is different in a most unique and rewarding way!!!
